Information to electrical / electronical devices

The following information is addressed to private households using electrical and/or electronic equipment. Please observe these important instructions in the interest of an environmentally sound disposal of old equipment as well as your own safety.

1. instructions for the disposal of (old) electrical and electronic equipment and the meaning of the symbol according to appendix 3 of ElektroG

Owners of waste equipment must take it to a collection facility separate from unsorted municipal waste. Waste electrical and electronic equipment may therefore not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and, in particular, does not belong in household waste. Instead, these old appliances are to be collected separately and disposed of, for example, via the local collection and return systems.

Owners of waste equipment must also separate spent batteries and accumulators that are not covered by the waste equipment before handing them in at a collection point.

The latter does not apply if the used devices are separated from other used devices in accordance with § 14 (5) sentences 2 and 3 ElektroG within the framework of the opting process by the public waste management authorities for the purpose of preparing it for re-use, in order to prepare it for re-use.

By using the symbol according to appendix 3 to the ElektroG, owners can identify old appliances that are to be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of their service life. The symbol for the separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment represents a crossed-out wheeled bin and is designed as follows:

Symbol Disposal old electrical equipment

2. notes on the possibilities of returning old equipment

Owners of waste equipment may return or collect waste equipment within the framework of the possibilities for return or collection set up and available by public waste management authorities to ensure that waste equipment is disposed of properly. Where appropriate, they may also hand in electrical and electronic equipment for the purpose of reusing it. For further information, please contact the respective collection or recovery point.
