With its 17 keys, the kalimba offers a wide range of possibilities for accompanying songs or playing melodic improvisations. The rounded corners and the solid wooden block made of Zambian padouk wood is pleasantly heavy to hold (510g weight) and radiates a natural warmth. No other kalimba variant of this size has the heavy quality of the padouk wood, which is a special feature of this instrument.
The unique sound of a kalimba invites you to play well-known melodies and is suitable both for musical education with children and for accompanying other musical instruments thanks to its simplicity and immediately understandable playing principle. The keys of a kalimba are struck with the fingertips and produce a typical, melodic sound whose vibrations can also be heard through the wooden body.
The scope of delivery also includes a piezo pickup for connection to a recording microphone or amplifier. This allows external sound sources to be excluded and the sound of the instrument to be amplified or isolated. Sound effect contact microphones then record the sound by being in direct contact with the sound source.
The Kalimba is delivered from the factory tuned to A-440 Hz. Tuning to 432 Hz is possible with the included tuning iron.
Of course, the kalimba can also be placed on the body as part of sound therapy in order to transmit targeted vibrations to the body.
