Prayer bead necklace with 108 pearls + 1 guru pearl
Malas are Prayer beads and are used for counting the recited mantras. At the same time, the concentration is deepened by manually moving the pearls. Following ancient Vedic tradition, a Japa Mala should have 108 pearls (9 x 12). The number 108 also symbolizes the 108 volumes of the collected teachings of Buddha. As with any mala, a slightly larger guru pearl is additionally included to sense the beginning and end of a "round of recitation."
Each material has its individual charisma. For example, sandalwood with its characteristic fragrance has a calming, harmonizing and balancing effect.
