A gong is one of the most famous traditional Chinese percussion instruments, which has now spread all over the world.
The tam-tam gong is made of copper and tin. The main surface - seen from the edge - is slightly concave. The rim is beaded, making it more solid and heavier than a wind gong The surface of a tam-tam gong is coated on both sides in the middle and on the edge with black copper oxide, which is formed during the making of the gong. The rest of the gong is polished to remove this coating.
The premium quality gongs meet the highest quality requirements and are awarded the seal of the Hess® premium quality standard. This seal of quality is only awarded to optically and acoustically flawless and multiple tested gongs. These gongs are used, among other things, in the Peter Hess®-Klangmassage and pedagogy.
The tam-tam gong has an intensely powerful sound pattern that produces a wide range of overtones.
