Powerful sound with beautiful appearance
A gong is one of the most famous traditional Chinese percussion instruments, which has now spread all over the world.
The tam-tam gong is made of copper and tin. The main surface - seen from the rim - is slightly concave. The rim is beaded, making it more solid and heavier than a windgong. The surface of a tam-tam gong is coated on both sides in the centre and the rim with black copper oxide, which forms during the making of the gong. The rest of the gong is polished to remove this coating.
The tam-tam gong has an intensely powerful sound that produces a wide range of overtones.
All gongs are supplied including a coiled cotton mallet.
- The pictured gong stand is not included and can be ordered here.
- Standard quality: These are lower-priced gongs that do not quite reach the quality of the premium gongs in terms of appearance or sound.
