The solid spruce top gives the monochord a brilliant sound that remains stable even when the temperature fluctuates. At the same time, the instrument is not only suitable for therapeutic use, but also for musical purposes, such as sound journeys or concerts.
Despite its compact size, the ALLTON monochord surprises with an astonishingly full sound. The flat underside with softly rounded edges allows it to be placed comfortably on the legs, stomach, or back; it can also be held comfortably in the arms. Recessed grips on the sides make it easy to handle. The new Model A is slimmer and longer than previous versions, which makes the sound even fuller and richer. Most people find the harmonious combination of fifth, fourth, and octave intervals particularly pleasant, invigorating, and relaxing at the same time.
The monochord is played by stroking the strings evenly with the fingertips or plucking individual notes rhythmically. When placed on the body, both the overall sound and individual notes can be heard.
